Christine Brown is the first Executive Director of the National Phenylketonuria Alliance (NPKUA), a nonprofit organization working to improve the lives of individuals with PKU and pursue a cure. The NPKUA’s signature programs focus on education, support, research, and advocacy. Under her leadership, the organization has created a robust research program, connected the PKU community together through conferences and innovative programs, and amplified the PKU and rare disease voice in advocacy efforts. Ms. Brown has more than 25 years of experience in building and leading nonprofit organizations at the local, state, and international level. Her background includes working in the domestic violence, human rights, and tobacco control movements, as well as leading economic development efforts in rural communities. She is a member of the Long Term Follow-Up and Treatment Subcommittee of the Secretary’s Advisory Council on Heritable Disorders in Newborns and Children, the Wisconsin Newborn Screening Committee, and serves on several advisory boards in her local community of Eau Claire, WI. She and her husband have three boys, two of whom have PKU.
